TOWAMENSING TOWNSHIP - Memorial services are now planned for a 12-year-old boy who was killed in an ATV crash over the weekend. It was at the corner of Strohl's Valley Road and Spruce Hollow Road near Lehighton where the ATV ride went tragically wrong. Police say 12-year-old Michael Kulp was riding on the back of a four-wheeler in Carbon County this weekend when the driver, a relative of Kulp's crashed. The boy died at the scene.

Kulp was in the 7th grade at St. John Neumann Regional School in Palmerton. The middle school student was extremely involved, taking part in everything from Chess and Ski Clubs, to the Fine Arts and Drama Society.

Students held prayer services for their classmate who had a love for the outdoors. Michael enjoyed hunting, skiing and riding four wheelers.

Police say no charges have been filed.

Classmates, family and friends will pay their respects at St. John Neumann's Gymnasium Tuesday night with a funeral service Wednesday morning at Sacred Heart Church in Palmerton.

Contributions are being taken for St. John Neumann Regional School care of Campton Funeral Home in Palmerton.
