Faculty members at Pennsylvania’s 14 state-owned universities have authorized a strike if necessary.
Union leaders said 95% of the faculty who voted approved the authorization.
About 6,000 faculty members and coaches have been working since June of 2011 without a contract.
Among the issues in dispute are paying for part-time faculty members and health care benefits.
No strike is imminent. Union leaders plan to meet to discuss a potential strike date.
The universities in our area that could be affected are Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield.
