This is the eighth in a series of 10 weekly Dancing with the Stars superfan blogs, as authored by contest winner Sarah Palonis, of Jessup.

Last week due to the elections we did not have a results show, so we will be having a double elimination this Tuesday so let’s dive right into our week eight performances! This week we will see two dances from our seven remaining all-stars where they will do their routines in a show that’s was in tribute to our Veterans, then a trio dance with either a troupe member, or an eliminated pro.

First up was Shawn reunited with Derek and they performed a Viennese Waltz with Shawn showing her usual grace, and Derek performing as though his neck injury was non-existent and having Shawn be compared to an angel with her poise and perfect lines and trying to match last week’s perfect scores but not quite making it earning a 29.5.

Next up was Apolo and Karina with a Tango, determined to not play it safe because of the double elimination they were facing using a zip line to spice things up. Their performance this week was definitely exciting, and they showed us how serious they are about this competition. The judges were all excited with the performance especially Bruno, and they earned a 29.5 as well.

Following Apolo and Karina were Kirstie and Maks also performing a Viennese Waltz and I must say Kirstie is definitely becoming more graceful as the competition progresses, and it definitely was one of the better dances that Kirstie has done, the pair earned a 27.

Kelly and Val danced their own Viennese Waltz and their chemistry is as always very apparent in their dancing, and the fluidity of their movements is beautiful, and always amazing to watch, the judges gave them a 28.

Gilles and Peta danced a Quickstep trying to move their way back up the leader board, giving us the excitement we usually see from their performances and getting a 29.5 putting them towards the top of the leader board earning two 10s from Len and Bruno.

Emmitt and Cheryl picked the popular dance of the night the Viennese Waltz, with Emmitt working on his upper body work, the performance was smooth, with some tiny imperfections, still they were able to earn a 28.

Finally in the first round were Melissa and Tony with a Quickstep bringing an old fashioned feel to the dance which was to me a fun routine to watch, with Len calling the routine the “bees knees” and earning g the pair a perfect score of 30.

Next up was the trio routines, Shawn and Derek selected Mark to do the Samba with them, and with a very exciting tribal routine, Shawn never looked fierce but the judges were not too happy with the routine, earning them a 26.

Apolo and Karina selected a troupe member Sasha to Jive with and they did a tribute to Grease Lightning and they did a fantastic job earning a 29.
Kirstie and Maks selected Tristan to dance with them to do a Paso Doble, and they did well in their performances though I felt it was lacking something they still earned a 24.
Kelly and Val danced with Louie to a Jive, and they showed us that they can handle a trio dance with as much passion and chemistry as they do with all their other routines and Len even got a kiss giving them a 28.5.

Gilles and Peta selected Chelsea as their trio partner picking a Salsa and Gilles showed he can handle his two partners with no problem, with some slight issues but still doing well enough to earn a 29.

Emmitt and Cheryl selected Kim and a Salsa as their style, trying again to show more upper body work, but proving why he is twinkle toes earning a 30 the first perfect score for them this season!

Finally Melissa and Tony selected Henry to do a Paso Doble, and they definitely brought a high energy to the performance with Melissa being a dominatrix, the judges were impressed as well giving them another 30!
