WILKES-BARRE -- This was a particularly bloody weekend in and around the city of Wilkes-Barre. Police responded to several shootings

One of them on Friday night left a man dead. And the shooter is still on the loose.

And investigators now say the shooting that left Leslie Smith of Wilkes-Barre was not a random act of violence.

Police still don't have anyone in custody after a shooting Friday night left Leslie Smith dead outside the Red Roof Inn in Plains Township.

Police responded to a car crash near the motel's driveway just off Route 315.  Inside the car was Leslie Smith of Wilkes-Barre.

According to police, Smith had been shot several times and died at the scene.  Luzerne County district attorney Stefanie Salavantis says Smith has a lengthy police record dating back to 2004.

Some of the charges filed by police throughout Luzerne County include drug possession, assault, trespassing, fleeing from an officer, and theft.

"[Smith's death] was not a random act. We're continuing interviews today and do not feel the public is in any danger," said Salavantis.

Just a few hours after the deadly shooting in Plains Township Wilkes-Barre city police responded to a shooting inside Mulligan's Bar on South Main Street.  Two people were hurt.

Police soon arrested Stefan Smith, of Wilkes-Barre and charged him with aggravated assault. Neither of the injuries was life threatening.

Then yesterday afternoon, Wilkes-Barre City Police responded to another shooting. This one was at the Sherman Hills apartment complex. Police say one man was shot but his injuries were not life threatening. That shooting is also under investigation.
