Accident Traps Man in Crane

BEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP — A man was flown to the hospital after sustaining injuries in a crane accident Saturday in Luzerne County.

The accident happened around noon on Thornhurst Road near Bear Creek Township.

The fire chief said the man was operating the crane using it to pick up logs and place them into a dump truck.  The hopper on the truck tipped over landing on the crane trapping the operator inside. 

Emergency crews said it took two hours to pull the man from the wreckage.  Both his legs and his femur were broken.  Crews said the injuries were not life threatening.
