EXETER -- State Representative Phyllis Mundy won her twelfth term in Harrisburg,  running against a Republican challenger who was a toddler when Mundy first took office in 1991.

Mundy met with supporters in her district in Exeter to follow the results. She won 56 percent of the vote over her opponent Aaron Kaufer of Kingston.

The newcomer opponent, Kaufer, held his campaign party a few miles down the road in Kingston. Kaufer spent significant campaign money attacking Mundy's record in the state legislature.

Representative Mundy said this election had one of the highest voter turnouts she's seen in her 12 campaigns. She said looking forward to her twelfth term, she wants to focus on issues surrounding Marcellus shale drilling in the state and state funding for education.
