WILLIAMSPORT -- About half of the old Duboistown Bridge was brought down with a loud explosion this morning as part of a planned demolition.

A new bridge between Williamsport and Duboistown over the Susquehanna River is already complete.

The old bridge dates back to 1922 and it was time for the old steel grate bridge to come down, said PennDOT officials.

Pieces of the old bridge on Arch Street will be removed from the river and then, within a month or two, PennDOT said the rest of the bridge will be demolished.
