SCRANTON -- Hours before former President Bill Clinton’s scheduled rally at Scranton High School Monday night, hundreds were lined up outside waiting for the doors to open.
Sheila McDonough and her son Timmy came out early in the afternoon from Olyphant, snagging a spot at the front of the line.
“I just think it’s important for our young ones and everybody to understand the importance of politics and current events, and it’s Bill Clinton,” said McDonough.
Once inside the auditorium, the crowds were buzzing with excitement to see and hear from the former president.
“Oh it’s awesome, one of the greatest presidents in American history and great to have him here,” said Joe Antonik of Clarks Summit.
“I’m very happy to be able to show my kids a former president as my dad showed me when he campaigned here at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport,” said Antonik’s wife Megan as the couple brought their two children to the event.
President Clinton made a stop in the Electric City to stump for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on the eve of Election Day, hoping to drum up eleventh hour support in the Keystone State.
Some say they do want to hear about certain issues.
“My main focus is on healthcare and for the elderly,” said one supporter.
And many say four more years of this current administration is exactly what our country needs.
“I’m a woman and a small business owner, there’s no reason why I would ever vote for Mitt Romney,” said Michaela Moore of Clarks Summit.
“I think he hasn`t gotten a fair shot yet. I think he took over the country when it was in a really tough time and I think four more years would enable him to prove himself even more,” said Carmen Gerrity, student at the University of Scranton.
