Chase Through Two Counties

WILKES-BARRE — A chase across Luzerne and Lackawanna counties ended with a man in handcuffs.

Police tell us Alexis Nunez was holding a woman against her will in a van on Sheridan Street in Wilkes-Barre around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Officers say when they confronted the suspect, he took off with the victim, leading officers on a pursuit on Interstate 81 between Wilkes-Barre and Pittston Township.

Investigators said at times Nunez was driving north in the southbound lanes, going faster than 90 miles per hour.

Police finally caught the driver near Pittston.

A loaded shotgun was recovered from the vehicle.

The victim was not hurt.

Nunez is locked up.

Federal immigration officials are also involved in the investigation.
