The Bucknell Bison basketball team opens up the 2012-2013 season next Friday at Purdue.

The Bison are coming off a 25-10 season and an NIT tournament invitation. In the first round game Bucknell defeated Arizona and then lost to Nevada in the second round.

Mike Muscala returns with 1,400 career points along with senior forward Joe Willman and his 800 career points. Bryson Johnson with 1,008 career points leads a backcourt that has leadership and balance. Cameron Ayers a junior guard fills the defensive role for the Bison this season.

Freshman Ryan Frazier, Dom Hoffman, and Matt Banas could see some playing time along with Steven Kaspar, Joshea Singleton, Brian Fitzpatrick, Ben Brackney, and Colin Klebon from Southern Columbia Area high school.

Dave Paulsen said, "Our guys have been working really hard beating up against each other a lot and so it will be good to go against other people. We feel like Purdue is going to be a great challenge coming from the Big 10. A lot of people are going to point to the Purdue's and the Penn State's, and the Missouri's of the world, and for very good reason. Even the teams we're able to bring into here LaSalle, George Mason, Kent State, and people of that nature as we'll of some of our road contests. We've really challenged ourselves not only in the power 6 conference games but every game on the schedule."
