COLOUMBIA COUNTY — With election day coming up, Columbia County is making plans to move polling locations if sandy floods some roads in Bloomsburg, a town that knows a thing or two about flooding.

The Board of Elections says the polling place at the new firehall on West Market Street would potentially be affected.

Officials say if necessary, they’ll move those voters to the Caldwell Consistory on North Market Street, but they’ll evaluate the situation more as the storm unfolds.

“At this time we`re just preparing as if the worst of what they`re talking about sandy could happen, we would have to take a look if there was flooding in those two locations that were wet in September of last year whether or not we would be willing to move them,” said Director of Elections Matthew Repasky.

Voters will be notified through local news outlets, including Newswatch 16, if the polling locations are changed because of the storm.
