FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP -- Firefighters in Luzerne County have some new lifesaving equipment in their arsenal.

Mountain Top Hose Company Number One in Fairview Township hosted an open house Sunday to show off two new fire trucks.

The president of the company said it took eight years, a lot of fundraising and selling two older trucks to afford the new vehicles.

The company is thankful the community pulled together to help them buy the much-needed equipment.

"We'll be able to well serve the community for the next 15, 20 years with these vehicles and we're very proud of our community to support us in the way that they have," said hose company President David Hourigan.

Hourigan said the new engines have upgraded technology to help crews battle flames in Mountain Top and surrounding areas.
