EFFORT — Troopers in Monroe County spent Friday evening searching wooded areas around Effort for a man who fled on foot during a traffic stop.
Authorities said officers stopped a car in Chestnut Hill Township around 6:00 p.m. The passenger of the car left the vehicle and ran into the woods toward Neola Road.
Police said a large amount of heroin was found in the car. Officers arrested the driver.
Troopers along with local police chased the passenger who ran over two hours. State police said the man, Jason Frey, was found and arrested late Saturday night. Authorities said he was picked up hours later near the initial traffic stop.
Frey was taken to Monroe County jail on probation violations. Troopers said they plan to charge him with multiple felonies.
