EFFORT -- Marcel Gibbs, 23, was arrested Thursday, charged with the attempted homicide of his half-brother.

State police said Gibbs shot Kenneth Reddick, 29, several times inside their Chestnuthill Township home Thursday morning after the two had an argument.

Troopers said Reddick was taken by a neighbor to a nearby ambulance company and was then taken to a hospital in Bethlehem.

In the meantime, officers surrounded the home, thinking Gibbs may still be inside.

"I came home to this mess, an ambulance parked down the street, helicopters, police all over the place with assault rifles," said neighbor Mike Hrbek.

State police said after several hours, they got information that Gibbs was not in the home, but in fact in the Stroudsburg area.

Troopers said that is where he turned himself in.

"When he saw all the troopers in the area of West Main in Stroudsburg he approached one of the officers from Swiftwater and said something to the effect of I believe I am the person you are looking for," said Sergeant Sean Jennings of State Police, Fern Ridge.

People who live in the area of the shooting said coming home to find so many police, even a helicopter, may have been a shock, but they are grateful to have them.

"While I`m very dismayed and saddened by this, I am grateful because I know whatever situation we have here will be handled well," said Teri Vanbritsom, head of the Chestnuthill Township Crime Watch.
