ELYSBURG--The Covered Bridge and Arts Festival has always been held one week after the Bloomsburg Fair.

Autumn has arrived at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg. Along with that comes the Covered Bridge and Arts Festival. The event is held every year in Northumberland County. Almost 400 vendors set up shop at Knoebels.

"We like to see the crafts, vegetables and food," Catherine Meiser said.

"We have been coming for the last 4-5 years and it's just something to do after the fair," Joanne Fedder said.

The Covered Bridge and Arts Festival is free, and Halloween decorations are everywhere at Knoebels. It is the 31st year for the event, and for the first time, it is being held for four days instead of three.

"We needed to generate more revenue and we figured this was a very good way to do it. The four days, even in the rain, has worked out very well for us," Donna Sharrow said.

Also new this year, is the agritourism area. It is open on Thursday and Friday and features animals like this camel over here.

"We have therapy animals, we have red deer," Sharrow said.

There is also a lot of food. Newswatch 16 found lots of people lined up at Crabby Larry's, waiting for crab soup.

"Sometimes we'll have 30-40 people standing in line here. We're doing good here," Larry Rompallo said.

Even though the season is over for Knoebels, many of the rides will be open all weekend for the Covered Bridge and Arts Festival. The event runs until Sunday from 10am until 6pm.
