UNIVERSITY PARK -- Former Penn State assistant football coach Mike McQueary filed a whistleblower lawsuit Tuesday against the school.

The lawsuit seeks $4 million in damages based on anticipated future earnings as a PSU football coach over the next 25 years.

The defamation lawsuit claims McQueary was isolated from his community of friends after Penn State barred him from all facilities associated with Nittany Lion football and placed on administrative leave.

According to the document, Penn State's treatment of McQueary since November 5, 2011 has caused the ex-coach distress and embarrassment.

The defamation count claims Penn State President Graham Spanier's public comment that supported PSU officials Gary Schultz and Tim Curley was published to isolate McQueary and make him the scapegoat in this matter.

Mike McQueary was one of the key witnesses for the prosecution in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse court case.  McQueary claimed he saw Sandusky rape a young boy in a Penn State facility shower in 2001.
