Survivors Celebrate In Scranton

SCRANTON — Dozens of cancer survivors came together in Lackawanna County Saturday to celebrate their victory over the disease.

Northeast Regional Cancer Institute held its annual cancer survivors celebration in McDade Park in Scranton.

Family, friends and caregivers also participated.

Survivors formed a circle to share their experiences and words of encouragement.

“Through faith and the love of your family and support and coming to events like this, you find out that there`s other people out there who have experienced what you`re going through and it helps you to get through it,” said Georgette Mecca.

This was the 20th year for the cancer survivors celebration in Scranton.
