SCRANTON -- Nearly 200 people took a stroll in Nay Aug Park in Scranton Saturday evening for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk.

Participants carried illuminated balloons during the two-mile walk.

Survivors carried white balloons, while supporters carried red.  Others carried gold balloons in honor of those who have lost their battle with the disease.

“I think Light the Night really gives people the opportunity to come together and really show their support, not only for each other and people who have been on this cancer journey, but also for an organization like the Leukemia and Lymphoma society that is truly dedicated to finding a cure and also providing support to patients and their families,” said Jana Boyer, the national director of LLS Light the Night Walk.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hopes to raise $150,000 this year in Scranton.
