EAST PENN TOWNSHIP -- Police believe a man tried to kill his grandmother with his girlfriend's help and now the two are behind bars in Carbon County.
According to police, Jacob Wertman, 23, from Ashfield plotted to kill his grandparents for their home and money. When the man's grandmother arrived home Monday night, his girlfriend, Amber Steigerwalt,19, from Lehighton stabbed her.
The grandmother survived the attack.
Wertman and Steigerwalt face assault and conspiracy charges and are both locked up in the Carbon County Prison.
