WILKES-BARRE -- A group in Luzerne County is working to build awareness about suicide prevention.
Hundreds gathered at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre Sunday for the "Out of the Darkness Walk".
The walk is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide prevention.
Family members and friends of those who have taken their lives walked in their loved one's memory in an effort to raise money and awareness about suicide prevention.
“This is a day where people could be with people who truly understand, and do our part to see if we could do more research into why suicide happens in the first place,” said Kathy Wallace.
This was the sixth year for the walk in Wilkes-Barre.
