It used to be that you didn't begin seeing Christmas items in the stores until after Thanksgiving.

Then they pushed it up to Halloween. And now, we are already seeing holiday items in stores!

Christmas trees, lighted garland, ornaments and more at this Lowe's in Mount Pocono. It's Christmas in September.

"We were actually shopping for charcoal because we're gonna barbecue tomorrow, but then as I looked to my right I noticed they had Christmas stuff up and Thanksgiving is not even here yet," said Angelic Bellinger of Tobyhanna.

Workers have been receiving shipments of Christmas supplies since early this week and managers say it's all about staying ahead of the game.

"It's something that all the major retailers try to get a jump out in front of another major retailer with Christmas. It was two years ago we were beaten by home depot and then both this year and last year we're ahead of it," said Ian Sternerson of Lowe's.

Misha Kurayev says this is the best time to buy decorations for the holidays.

"This is very good, this is what I need right now. When this is December, it's too busy. But I think now this is very good for September," she said.
