DREHER TOWNSHIP — More than 50 beagles taken from the scene of a deadly shooting are now up for adoption and being cared for in foster homes.

Many of the dogs ended up at the Dessin Animal Shelter near Honesdale.

The beagles were at a home near Newfoundland where a man killed his wife over the weekend, according to police.

The animal shelter says it’s received dozens of applications for the dogs.

Some of the dogs were also taken to shelters in Luzerne, Pike and Bucks Counties.
