Regan Rome Dallas Cross Country Runner
Regan Rome is running her way to another Wyoming Valley Conference title. The Dallas junior is off to a great start this season taking third at the New Balance Kutztown University invitational.
After running neck and neck with the best girl’s in the state Regan feels she is ready for more.
“Oh that was a good invitational. We did really well our team won. I took third. I did OK racing. I think I could have done a little better, but I was happy with the outcome,” said Regan Rome.
This season Regan is happy to be running with her younger sister Ally. It’s a family affair for the Rome’s mom alongside cheering on her girl’s.
“Yes it is. I’m so happy to have her on the team with me. It’s so cool to be a sister-sister team and she did really well today she took third,” again said Regan.
Regan had a very busy summer training mostly at night about 45 miles per week, during the day she would get up at 6:30am head up to Camp Orchard Hill in Dallas where she was a counselor for kids at a summer camp.
“Did you tell them you’re a runner or did they just treat you as a normal person? They just treat me as a normal person, but one time I was running a road race and one of my kids we’re up there and I saw you running last night you we’re going like so fast. Yeah that was me. What kind of fun activities did you do with the kids? They love to go blobbing which is when they jump off this raft and go into the lake. There was also a pool there, rock climbing and they love to go fishing. There’s all types of boats there they can go in. It’s a really fun camp,” added Regan.
Regan’s running style is unique, but effective according to Head Coach Matt Samuel.
“That’s classic mind over matter. With her she doesn’t have the ideal size and so forth but, it’s the heart inside of her that gets everything going. So she pushes. She works. She is a very driven individual and those things are going to make her a great runner,” said Matt Samuel.
Regan won the quad meet in Mountain Top on Wednesday finishing first in 18:39.
