PLAINS TOWNSHIP — Testimony is underway in the homicide trial of a tow truck driver, accused of causing a woman’s death in Luzerne County.
According to police, Robert Wickham from Dallas was drunk when he showed up to tow a car in Plains Township in March of 2011.
Authorities said when he backed up the victim’s car, an open door knocked Denise Polinchak, 55, to the ground.
The woman from the Wilkes-Barre area hit her head on the pavement and later died.
On the witness stand Tuesday morning, several officers testified they smelled alcohol on Wickham’s breath that day.
But in opening statements, the defense made the claim the woman’s car was faulty.
They also said they will challenge the test of Wickham’s blood alcohol level administered by police in Luzerne County.
