Hundreds came out Saturday for entertaining events and fundraisers.

It was the first ever 5k run in Bloomsburg to help raise money for people with intellectual disabilities.

Several dozen runners took part in the run-walk at Bloomsburg Town Park. Money raised will go to programs for the Arc of Susquehanna Valley.

Organizers tried to hold the run last year, but had to cancel due to flooding.

In Monroe County, people came to a camp today to have some fun.

Camp Trexler near Effort hosted the annual Monroe County youth field day. Local hunting and fishing clubs run the free event.

Kids learned about shooting rifles, fishing, mounting animals, and more.

Each child received a hat, a t-shirt, and a camouflage duffel bag free.

This was the 18th year for the event in Monroe County.

A "Party in the Park" was held in Wilkes-Barre Saturday.

The event kicked off at 10 a.m. with a 5k walk and run which started at Miner Park on Old River Road. The walk went through south Wilkes-Barre to show what the city has to offer.

After the walk, the community gathered at the park where there was plenty of fun for the whole family. There was music and food throughout the day, a car and motorcycle show, face painting, and a blood drive at nearby Kistler Elementary School.

Money raised at the event will go to maintaining and improving the city of Wilkes-Barre.

The activities continued in another part of Luzerne County.  Funfest kicked off Saturday in downtown Hazleton.

The annual event features food, vendors, and plenty of free activities for parents and children.

This year's theme was Christmas in September.

Some fear a new city ordinance could put a damper on future Funfests.

The city is proposing increased permit fees to help pay for city services during the event.

“I don't think that's right, increase the permits and everything,” said Tony Toth.  “It’s good for the town and everything and a lot of people come out and see it.  It brings the business in Hazleton and that's what they need nowadays.”

Funfest continued Sunday in Hazleton.
