TANNERSVILLE -- It's the unofficial end of summer and many people are not letting the rain dampen their vacation plans.

Some say if you can't beat the weather, join it.

The rainy weather didn`t stop some people from enjoying Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark near Tannersville.

For many vacationers we spoke with, the water park seemed like the natural choice.

"It really doesn't bother me that much, cause we already got wet," said Nicole Owens of New Jersey.

"Just trying to end the summer right, with a little fun," said Elizabeth Smith of New Jersey.

"Once we heard the weather was going to change, and the rain was coming, we figured there would be no lines and we all came out here and we all decided to jump in," said Noel Therouz of New York.

At times, the rain made Camelbeach look like an island getting hit by a tropical storm.

But this was a very uncommon sight this summer as Camelbeach had the best crowd since it opened in 1998.

"Absolutely amazing, smashing our record, with nearly 400,000 visitors this year," said Brian Czarnecki, the marketing manager at Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark.

When the water park closes for the night, it`s also closing for the season. Then, this week, the big transition begins when Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark becomes Camelback Mountain Ski Area.

"We're breaking down the water park after today, getting the snow guns out and will start blowing snow as soon as possible," said Czarnecki.

That may be by November or December, when the park filled with H2O will be layered in snow.
