ELYSBURG -- Campers came together at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg to bid a fond farewell to summer. Carey Hoffman and his family are from Shamokin Dam. They got to the park on Friday, and spent their Labor Day getting ready to go home.

"Of course today is pack up day. Otherwise it's been a nice weekend, other than a little drizzle," Carey Hoffman said.

Hundreds of people camp at Knoebels each weekend during the summer, and employees said Labor Day Weekend is one of the busiest for campers.

"I came here Wednesday. I usually take a few days off and come here to relax. It was great," David Silfies said.

Dark skies made for short lines at the amusement park. Tanner Davis and his sister Leah were pretty happy about that!

"I think it's because it was not the best day out but it turned out to be a really good day," Tanner Davis said.

Employees say Knoebels is typically crowded on holiday weekends, but not on the actual holidays.

"We're just riding the rides like the log flume. Is that your favorite ride? Yeah," Leah Davis said.

Labor Day is the last weekday Knoebels is open for the 2012 season, but the park will still be open for the next three weekends, as well as weekends in October for Hallo-Fun, the Halloween celebration.
