WEISSPORT -- The annual Redneck Festival was held in Carbon County on Saturday and Sunday.

Several hundred people came out to celebrate their country roots, and enjoy some good food and entertainment, and some pretty peculiar contests.

Daisy Dukes and the ugliest pickup truck won you some prizes at the event.

The festival is held each year in Weissport, near Lehighton.

"Rednecks" come out for a great time.

“We've been having so much fun! As you can see my group is growing, now we even got them coming from Rochester, NY!” said Roberta Yost.

You cannot forget about the hot wing and watermelon eating contests!

The redneck version of horseshoes, is always a fan favorite, they use toilet seats instead.

Other contests include toilet seat races, best rack contest, for your deer rack, and the tug-a-war.

There’s also that redneck attire, from redneck hats, to feet mittens, the festival attracts hundreds each year, and it's all for a good cause.

Money raised from the festival will fund several community projects.

“The whole purpose is to raise funds for recreational needs for the Weissport area, that’s what this is all about, and what we decided a number of years ago to create that based on public participation and everything that's politically incorrect,” said Duane “bubba” Dellecker.
