Former Mt. Carmel Red Tornadoes lineman and current Bloomsburg Huskies junior center Chris Steck anchors a powerful offensive line. Going into the opener with Stonehill College the strength of the team seems to be on offense.
"You can never teach experience. A lot of our guys are returning. We're tuned in. We're sharpening up and we'll be ready for the season," said Chris Steck.
Running behind Steck two backs who ran for more than a 1,000 yards a piece in 2011. Franklyn Quiteh from Pocono Mountain West and Eddie Mateo out of Freedom High School in Bethlehem give the Huskies that 1-2 punch every team needs.
"I feel great. I was surprised myself out of camps my legs feel great. I'm sure Eddie would say the same thing, but I'm just ready to go. I'm ready for next Friday to come fast enough. I can't wait to take on Stonehill," said Franklyn Quiteh.
"It's always good to have two running backs on any team, but it's also very good to have someone like Frank who leads the way. Then I can come in a just wear the defense down. With a two running back system with fresh legs at all times," said Eddie Mateo.
With the loss of Pat Carey at quarterback the Huskies now turn towards the Tim Kelly out of Camp Hill high school. He won the job in the spring because of his athleticism and his arm strength. Coach Hale thinks he is a perfect fit for this system.
"Great wheels! Tim is really come on. He is an excellent athlete and has a lot of upside. That's why we went with him," said Danny Hale.
If the Huskies defense holds Bloomsburg could hold onto another PSAC title.
