PITTSTON TOWNSHIP -- A woman in Luzerne County was charged Monday with stealing over $83,000 from a company she worked for.
Police said Amy McCamley, 41, of Old Forge stole thousands from April, 2011 to April, 2012 during her time working at Independent Chemical Corporation in Pittston Township. McCamley was the bookkeeper for the company since August, 2008.
According to Investigators, the company was contacted by McCamley's credit card company in April, 2012 to notify them of suspicious activity. The company then called police to look into the matter.
Police said McCamley confessed to stealing approximately $61,000 stating she had a prescription drug problem and was in credit card debit and needed the money.
As the investigation continued, police said the company found an extra $11,920 signed to Amy Goodman, McCamley's maiden name.
McCamley faces theft and forgery charges.
