HAZLETON -- Mitchell Dedes, 17, is locked up in the Luzerne County jail, facing charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping and robbery.
As authorities led Dedes off to jail in Luzerne County, he spoke only once, offering a few words of sympathy to the family of 29-year-old Aaron Reznick.
"Sorry for your loss," Dedes said.
According to court papers, Reznick was found lying in the middle of Carson Street in Hazleton on August 4 and died in a hospital nine days later.
Police are now charging Dedes with criminal homicide, kidnapping, robbery and more in connection to Rezick's death.
This comes just days after authorities also charged Breon Judon, 19, with criminal homicide in connection with Reznick's death.
According to court paperwork, Reznick was assaulted, stripped of his clothes, forced in the trunk of his car and later beaten when he tried to escape.
Judon told another person he and Dedes, known as "Money", robbed Reznick at gunpoint, all over an iPhone.
Newswatch 16 stopped in Ebervale near Hazleton where the victim lived. Neighbors didn't want to talk on camera, but said Reznick was a nice person and they were saddened to hear of what happened.
We also spoke with neighbors on West Hemlock Street in Hazleton where Dedes resided. No one knew the teen who is now facing felony charges and say their neighborhood is a quiet one.
Many questions still surround Reznick's death and friends and neighbors are quietly and anxiously waiting for answers.
Officials are planning to hold a news conference Tuesday in Luzerne County where we expect to learn more of the details surrounding this homicide.
