It's the fastest sport on ice, but the training for the Olympic sport of Luge is done on pavement. This week, the official nationwide athlete recruitment tour of USA Luge came to McDade Park in Scranton, where I got to try and become the next best luger! In what is called the "USA Slider Search", the top managers from Team USA in Lake Placid, NY, are coming to the Toyota Pavilion on Montage Mountain in Scranton on August 18 and 19, looking for the next Olympian! The luge clinic is FREE for kids ages 9 to 13, and each participant will receive a free t-shirt. But, in order to try out for the Olympic team in the clinic, you must register online at http://www.USALUGE.org prior to the clinic.

I am a little older than the recruitment age, but I gave the luge my best run and was able to finish the course in 13.2 seconds! It was a fun and enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone!
