WILKES-BARRE — Police searched the Ford F-350 pickup truck suspected in the hit and run death of Rebecca McCallick, 19, in July and the results could show it struck a human.
According to a search warrant, police found suspected human hair and tissue samples from under the driver door, suspected tissue and hair from the driver side axle and possible bone fragment from under the driver side step up bar.
The truck is registered to Danny Loughnane. Investigators call him a person of interest in the hit and run death of McCallick, but no charges have been filed against him or anyone else.
In the early morning hours of July 24, according to police, McCallick and her boyfriend had an argument at their apartment on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre. She went into the street. Her boyfriend yelled at her to move, but she was struck and killed by a vehicle.
After the crash, police released surveillance photos of the truck believed involved, a truck that matches the one owned by Danny Loughnane. The victim’s boyfriend later identified Loughnane’s truck as matching the one seen in the surveillance pictures.
A new search warrant shows that investigators are trying establish a time line as to where and when Loughnane was on the night McCallick died.
According to that warrant, a friend said he and Loughlane were at the Gentlemen’s Club 10 near Wilkes-Barre and stayed there until it closed at 2 a.m.
McCallick was hit and killed a short time later.
Again no charges have been filed against anyone in the death of McCallick.
