WINDHAM TOWNSHIP -- A girl is dead after crashing into a dump truck in Wyoming County Monday afternoon.

The Wyoming County Coroner said Natasha Canfield, 17, of Mehoopany was killed in the wreck.

Troopers said the crash happened on State Route 4002 in Windham Township, near Mehoopany, around 1:30 p.m.

State police said Canfield was driving by herself when she crashed head-on into a dump truck.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The dump truck was going toward Laceyville, there's a car coming toward Mehoopany.  The car crossed into the path of the dump truck and crashed," said Trooper William Mackiw.

The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

The road was closed for hours as state police worked with reconstruction crews to determine the cause of the crash.
