TROY -- Borough council, faced with the resignations of the police chief, a full time officer, and a part time officer, met in executive session Monday morning to decide what to do about the vacancies.
The Troy borough manager said council voted to accept the resignations, which are effective August 22. Council will also advertise for replacements.
One of the officers leaving the force told Newswatch 16 last week that police officers are upset with council, because they claim council will not add more part time officers to deal with an increasing work load.
Council denies the allegations. One council member says the police department can do its job with the number off officers already on the payroll. The borough manager said this morning that staffing will not be increased, and the manpower complaints were not mentioned in the officers' letters of resignation.
Troy is a community of about one thousand residents in the western end of Bradford County.
