WILKES-BARRE -- The dark blue F-350 pick-up truck is still being called a vehicle of interest in the hit and run death of Rebecca McCallick, 19, nearly three weeks ago.
But it's what the search warrant contains that sheds more light on to why police are homing in on the truck.
According to the search warrant, on July 24, McCallick and her boyfriend John Schenck had an argument at their apartment on Hazle Street.
Mccallick then went into the street, and Schenck heard the sounds of an approaching truck and told her to move, but she did not.
Schenck then witnessed the crash that left McCallick dead and saw the truck leave the scene heading toward Ashley.
Police showed Schenck photos of a truck captured on city surveillance video, and he identified it as the one he saw on Hazle Street.
According to the search warrant, "witness John Schenck then went to 71 West Ashley Street and confirmed that the vehicle parked at that location matched the vehicle in question."
Newswatch 16 confirmed last week that the truck of interest is registered to Daniel Loughnane. According to the search warrant, police went to a bar he owns, but the employees there refused to give any information about Loughnane.
Loughnane had posted on a Facebook page he was vacationing near Lake Ontario, but police say he returned to the area. No charges have been filed against him or anyone else.
Rebecca McCallick was a 19-year-old Kings College student. Since her death three weeks ago, her family has offered a $5,000 reward to anyone that can help police catch the driver who hit her and drove away.
