It was all about helping others in the parking lot of a ShopRite Grocery Store in Lackawanna County on Saturday.
ShopRite Partners in Caring is an organization that gathers money all year long primarily through events and fundraisers like the one held on Saturday.
The function was held in an effort to support local charities.
“We get no funding at all. So this is the way we get the money to supply the goods to the people every month,” said Helen Hilborn from North Pocono’s Dry Goods Pantry.
The North Pocono Dry Goods Pantry is one of the many organizations that ShopRite Partners In Caring supports.
Helen said the need in this area continues to increase.
“Just these past two weeks we got thirteen new families. We are up to 140 families. There is a lot of need out there. Tremendous,” added Hilborn.
Organizers for the event said that dozens of volunteers came together to make this event possible, including volunteers from area fire houses and ambulance companies.
“Last year we were able to donate $10,000 to the local community for the ShopRite of Daleville and also for the ShopRite of Mount Pocono” said Kim Fells from ShopRite Partners In Caring.
Kim Fells heads up the local branch of the ShopRite Partners In Caring organizations.
She said they continue fundraising all year long, with most of the money staying in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Fells said to donate folks can contact the Human Resources Department at the ShopRite of Daleville or Mount Pocono. Organizers said they need support all year long.
