HAZLETON -- Hazleton's chief of police, Frank DeAndrea, has requested a hearing on a traffic citation he recently received.

According to court papers, DeAndrea requested a hearing on the citation he was given last month that he ran a red light, causing a crash that injured another man. That man also received a ticket for not displaying an inspection sticker.

State police conducted the investigation and said the chief's marked SUV ran the light at Broad and Laurel Streets on duty in May.

The other man, who was riding a motorcycle, was badly hurt in that crash.
