WILKES-BARRE -- Two weeks ago, 19-year-old Rebecca McCallick was struck and killed by a hit and run driver outside her apartment in Wilkes-Barre.
The driver remains on the run and now a reward is being offered for any information to help police track down that driver.
Maureen Capella had bracelets designed in memory of her friend Rebecca McCallick. The two worked together at the Wegmans in Wilkes-Barre Township.
Two weeks ago, police say a pick up truck hit McCallick outside her home on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre and never stopped.
The driver has not been found.
Maureen hopes the wristbands bring some comfort to McCallick's grieving friends and family.
"She had a lot of close friends and family, and even those that weren`t close they made a big impact on everybody`s lives," said Capella.
Rebecca McCallick was a student at Kings College. Police say she was hit by the truck just after 2 a.m. on July 24.
The family has now offered a $5000 reward to anyone that can help police find the driver.
Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton says the investigation continues.
"The driver should really have a good conscience and turn himself in. It`s affecting the family of Becca McCallick and I think it`s very important for all those involved in the situation to come forward and provide any information," said Leighton.
The mayor's plea is echoed by Maureen Capella who plans to donate all the money from the bracelets to Rebecca's family. So far that total is around $3000.
"I really hope they come forward and own up to what they`ve done. They made a huge mistake and obviously they will have consequences but it`s better than not knowing what happened," added Capella.
