SCRANTON -- Later this week, the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton will play host to a kind of concert never seen on the mountain before.

It's three days long and will feature more than 30 bands.

It's called the Peach Music Festival, The Allman Brothers and country music act Zac Brown Band are headlining the three-day long festival. Officials at Montage Mountain say the festival is a big test.

If it goes off without a hitch, it could open the mountain up to other multi-day festivals.

Crews at Toyota Pavilion on Montage Mountain have concert preps down to a science. Workers started the usual jobs Tuesday. Cleaning up the pavilion and unloading trucks worth of water and beer.

But, this weekend, they'll enter into uncharted territory.

"All the things that go along with setting up a little village, we're setting up a little town on top of the mountain," said General Manager Jason Resetar.

For the first time, Toyota Pavilion will host a multi-day concert called the Peach Music Festival. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday concert-goers can take in more than 30 bands and have the option to camp overnight here.

Security guards held a meeting at the mountain Tuesday afternoon. Officials say there won't be extra security for the festival, just that they'll be working more hours.

Resetar says if the Peach Music Festival goes well, it could entice other multi-day festivals to come here too.

"That's the plan, that's the plan, this is going to be a game changer for us. It's going to put us as a venue on the map, and us as a city on the map," Resetar added.

Higher up on Montage Mountain, employees at the Sno Cove Water Park are making preparations too. People who are camping for this weekend's festival will stay on the slopes and have access to the entire water park.

Officials with Sno Cove say this is the first time they've worked with the pavilion in this way. And, while campers may start rolling in as early as Thursday, people can still buy passes to Sno Cove all weekend.

Since there will be a stage set up at the water park, patrons there may get to take in some of the concert.

"I think it will be a good test of what our mountain has to offer. Especially for people coming from other places, out of the area, it will show what our area has to offer which is a great thing," said Sno Cove Marketing Director Sarah Farrell.

Campers can start setting up as early as Thursday afternoon. But, the Peach Music Festival officially starts on Friday with Zac Brown Band and The Allman Brothers performing Friday night.

Officials from Toyota Pavilion say tickets are still available.
