WEST PENN TOWNSHIP -- A man is set to go on trial Monday in Schuylkill County, charged with killing his father last year.

Jury selection was completed Friday, and opening statements are expected Monday morning.

Police believe Franklin Stumhofer, Jr. gunned down his father in September, 2011.

Arrest papers show Stumhofer went to his father's home along Log Lane in West Penn Township and shot his father to death.

Stumhofer faces one count of homicide, and three counts of attempted homicide, because police say Stumhofer then drove to Berks County, and fired three shots into a relative's car.  No one was hurt in that incident.

Even though this is an alleged two county crime spree, the entire case will be heard in Schuylkill County.

Opening statements are set to begin at 9 a.m. in Pottsville.
