SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP — Officials say two cats found living in deplorable conditions in Columbia County will be ready for adoption Tuesday.

Bloomsburg police said they found 29 malnourished cats in a home on West 5th Street Saturday.

Twenty-seven cats were put down because they were in such poor condition.

Evy’s Cherished Cats, a shelter near Benton, took the remaining two cats.

Police do not anticipate charges against the owner because she did not intentionally put the animals in danger.
