SCRANTON -- On a sunny day in Scranton, you'll find lots of kids making a splash at the pool in Nay Aug Park in Scranton.

But we convinced some swimmers and off duty life guards that it was snack time.

This week: new hazelnut spreads from Jif are up for evaluation.

Two flavors are available: chocolate and mocha cappuccino.

"I think I like Nutella better, though. I like more hazelnut in it. I don't feel like that has as much. It's more chocolatey I think," said lifeguard Samantha Weiksner.

Ahh, Nutella. It's been around since the 40's, and claims to be the original hazelnut spread. Most of our testers who have tried Nutella said Jif's version does not stack up.

"It was ok, but Nutella is definitely better," said lifeguard Amy Pocius.

According to Jif's nutrition label, a serving is two tablespoons, just like peanut butter. Each serving has 230 calories, 14 grams of fat and 21 grams of sugar.  Even though its made with hazelnuts, it only has two grams of protein per serving.

But we did find hungry swimmers who liked the new hazelnut spread from Jif, in both flavors.

"I liked this one right here, the mocha cappuccino," said Miguel Caltenco, a lifeguard.

While we conducted our taste test with pretzels, some testers had some other tasty and original ideas for the chocolatey spread.

"I might eat it with chips, or maybe with peanut butter and jelly on a sandwich," said Michael Weiksner, a cashier at the pool.
