BUFFALO TOWNSHIP -- The annual used book sale to benefit the Public Library for Union County is underway this week.

Bookworms, unite! The Public Library for Union County is holding its annual used book sale, with more than 40,000 titles to choose from.

"As you can see they're going rapidly," said Karen Russell, a volunteer.

The used book sale is held at Faith Lutheran Church along Route 45 near Lewisburg. It has everything from children's books to self-help books. Sheila Toplenszky knew exactly what she was looking for.

"Anything to read over the winter. In case we have a lot of snow, I'm getting ready for the wintertime," said Toplenszky.

You can get individual books for a donation, or you can fill a bag.

"It's $20 per bag," said Russell. "(You can) fill it up with books and pay us when you leave."

Customers said you can't beat the bargains.

"We went to a bookstore a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe it, $25 for a hardback. When we see used books that are just as good as used books we came out," said Richard Harris.

"So are you just trying to stuff a lot of books in your bag? Yes I am. As many as I can. For $20 you can't beat it," said Toplenszky.

Staff at the Public Library for Union County said the used book sale is the biggest fundraiser of the year. In years past the sale has raised more than $20,000.

Organizers said all of the money raised goes right back into the library for programs, maintenance, to buy computers and of course to buy more books.

The used book sale runs at Faith Lutheran Church near Lewisburg until Saturday at 3 p.m.
