WILLIAMSPORT — The Williamsport School Board voted to officially close Sheridan Elementary and Round Hills Elementary for the 2013-2014 school year at its meeting Tuesday night.

Round Hills received a closing vote of seven to two while Sheridan’s closing vote was eight to one.

Stevens Elementary was also in consideration but the board voted to have the school remain open.

The board said it was forced to make a decision to deal with the growing number of students and aging buildings.

The school closings are scheduled to take effect June 30, 2013.
