SCRANTON — A Florida resident was indicted Tuesday in Scranton on charges regarding conspiracy involving a murder-for-hire scheme.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania brought charges on Edward McLaughlin, 63, of Cape Coral, Florida, for conspiring to kill McLaughlin’s ex-wife in Scranton in 2011 and 2012.
According to court documents, McLaughlin allegedly communicated plans with a conspirator by phone calls and letters and shipped a rifle from Florida to Scranton.
If convicted of all charges, McLaughlin faces life in prison.
The charges are a result of an investigation by the F.B.I. and the Scranton Police Department.
