DUNMORE -- UPDATE: A state police fire marshal issued an updated news release around 6:45 p.m. Monday.
In a joint investigation with Dunmore Police, the fire marshal says at the time of the arson fire Sunday night at 1611 Electric Street reportedly set by 35-year old Mark Loughney, there were six people inside the apartment.
They all escaped however four were injured. Two people were treated and released from Geisinger-Community Medical Center; the two others were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Burn Center for severe burns.
Loughney also suffered severe burns during this incident and was arraigned by District Justice John Pesota at Geisinger-Community Medical Center. Bail was set at $1 million and Loughney was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Burn Unit for treatment.
Loughney is charged with: 3 counts of criminal attempted homicide, 4 counts of arson endangering persons, 3 counts of aggravated assault, 1 count of criminal trespass.
DUNMORE - A man is under arrest after investigators ruled a Sunday night fire was a case of arson. Police also say that same man faces attempted homicide charges.
On Monday, Mark Loughney, 35, was charged with arson and attempted homicide.
Just a few hours before the fire started, police were called to the home for what they call "a disturbance."
There was blood on the sidewalk Monday morning at the scene of the fire on Electric Street in Dunmore.
Arrest papers show that police were called to the house around 11:45 p.m. Sunday for the report of a fight out front. Neighbors said several people were beating a man, one person even had a hockey stick.
After the fight, police say Loughney returned to the house with a can of gasoline and dumped it in the kitchen, living room and bedroom of the home and set the place on fire. When police arrived for the disturbance call, they say the place exploded in flames.
A neighbor said one man ran from the house with his feet on fire.
Loughney and five other people in the home and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment for burns.
Corey Miles and Paul Vinskofsky were taken to Lehigh Valley Burn Center with severe burns to their face, hands, and legs.
Anthony Stephenson was taken to a local hospital with burns to his arms and legs.
The other two were not significantly hurt.
Reports indicate that Loughney is the son of Patrick Loughney, the mayor of Dunmore.
Crews said they were able to put the fire out quickly.
