New head football coach Pat Reese brings excitement to the Holy Redeemer football program.

Reese moves from Defensive Coordinator to the top spot with the Royals, and at the age of 31 Reese feels like he has a good connection with the kids.

“After everything that had happened I really wanted to be the next head coach. The guys they believe in me. I believe in them and I think this season is going to be a great season. I’m honored to be able to coach these young kids and I think we’re going to be successful this year,” said Pat Reese.

Coach Reese inherits a team that went (0-10) a season ago, but the Royals are expecting more wins this season. Numbers are up for the team and so is the enthusiasm.

We’re going to practice hard. We’re going to work. OK. Royals on three. 1-2-3.

“Out of all the coaching options we had I’m happy that they choose him. He knows are guys and we know him. We are comfortable with him. He is like part of the royal family,” said Noah Orlandini-Sapack (Holy Redeemer Senior Lineman.)

“How do you see things shaping up? Certainly two-a-days are a month away, but July is important. If we keep working hard like this two-a-days are just going to be a lot easier. He has us conditioning a lot and all of us are getting into better shape and a lot of us are and it’s starting to show,” said Eric Kerr-Holy Redeemer Junior Wide Receiver.

“They can relate to me a little bit better. You know I’m like a players coach. I’m not far removed from this football game so there’s a lot I can teach them. I can get out there and show them everything that they need to get done,” again said Pat.

And what Reese and his staff put in will take place in the next 50 days. The Royals open up on the road at Northwest Friday night August 31st.
