WILLIAMSPORT -- Police in Lycoming County believe two men might be trying to leave the state after a deadly shooting in a public park Monday night.

Flanigan Park in Williamsport was packed with people Monday night when gunfire erupted, leaving one man dead and two men wanted for his killing.

Police have issued arrest warrants for Raymarr Alford, 17, and Qu Mar Moore, 22. Both now face homicide charges and are no strangers to law enforcement.

The basketball courts were packed for a youth league when investigators said two men pulled guns on the victim, and fired several times.

The victim, Kevan Connelly, 23, was taken to a nearby hospital where police say he died from gunshot wounds to the chest.

There are at least nine markings on the basketball court indicating that many bullet casings.

With so many witnesses around, police said they still had a hard time getting anyone to come forward with information.

Investigators say people at the park shouted "we don't talk to the police.”

Eventually, somebody did come forward leading police to search two homes in the city for the suspects Alford and Moore.

The two didn't turn up and investigators believe they could be headed to New Jersey.

Alford is 17 and is not supposed to have a gun because of prior drug charges. Moore, 22, also has a criminal past. He was involved in a brawl while a student at Williamsport Area High School a few years back.

"We don't know why it happened, why it happened here," said Wayne Jones who helps run Our Youth Basketball league.

Jones and Robert Scott said the victim and the men accused in the killing were not involved with the basketball program.

Still, the shooting has threatened the purpose of their program to build respect between young people in this community, they said.

"For us this is when we have to get stronger. This is us, our community, I get choked up, I can't believe this thing happened," added Scott.

A. Roy Flanigan Park is set to have surveillance cameras installed by this Fall in hopes of improving safety at the park.

Anyone with information on the men or the homicide is asked to call Williamsport police at 570-329-4066 or 570-327-7560.
