BLOOMSBURG -- A yard sale in Bloomsburg had clothes, toys, games and more all for sale to benefit the Bloomsburg Little League.

"With the flood, it was just devastating with the amount of loss so we thought it was going to be something very small. We posted on Facebook, we thought it was just going to be something for their friends and it just blew up, we had a hundred families donate," said Nicole Hartman, of Bloomsburg.

Kids came up with the idea for the fundraiser. They wanted to do something to help the little league so they cleaned out their rooms and started collecting stuff for the yard sale.

I donated stuffed animals and a lot of other stuff," said Emily Hartman, Bloomsburg.

It feels very good to help the community out," said Samantha Hartman, relative of Emily and Nicole.

Vendors were on-hand, as well. Selling their products and donating part of the profits to the little league.

The tents and even this grill were donated by a local company.

Money from food and drink sales were donated to the nearby Montour Township Fire Department.

"I think it's great. It really goes to show what a tight-knit community we have," said Harriet Renaud, of Bloomsburg.

Organizers said they raised $500 just from the Facebook fundraising campaign and said it all started with a little imagination from some little kids.

It's amazing, its little kids doing great things, i mean this is huge, monumental for kids these ages," said Candace Levan, Bloomsburg.
